“Luther and the Cloud Makers”by Kylie Newburn and illustrated by Sarah Nelisiwe Anderson  is a beautifully written and illustrated picture book that is not only a great book to share with younger children but is a perfect example of a resource to support student inquiry into Sharing the Planet.

Read an in-depth review by  the Picture Book Nook.

This book will be one I recommending for the Year 2 Sharing the Planet unit.

JSSALC Delicious links …

Over the last few years I have collected many weblinks that relate to the Units of Inquiry, online learning, PYP, languages, ICT and Web2.o just to name a few areas.

Recently I have started to use Diijo. I find that it is wonderful for the community aspect make it a valauable PLN tool. This is my profile of Diijo.

Year 2 teachers play with WORDLE and “The Terrible Plop”

THE TERRIBLE PLOP

Mrs Anderson and Mrs Moore had fun learning how to use WORDLE. They made a WORDLE using the rhyming words in the shortlsited book The Terrible Plop!

Have a go making one yourself using WORDLE and one of the shortlisted books!!!

(Mrs Moore will give you a chocolate freddo if she thinks it is better than hers!

Year 2

Year 2 have been celebrating!!!

The current unit of inquiry is called Let’s Celebrate.

People recognise important events through celebration and traditions.

  • What traditions are
  • How and why people celebrate
  • Similarities and differences between various celebrations

They created a poster or a model and spoke about what they learned.
