SEPTEMBER – SHARE A STORY -SWAP A STORY

SEPTEMBER – SWAP A STORY

For the month of September we are going to take a slightly different approach to the physical swapping of stories and instead swap stories by swapping the author and writer of the story in a Junior School progressive story writing attempt.

Progressive Story Writing in the JS Library

As each class comes to the library for their library session, they will add to the story prompt (one line per class). We are going to add to the story starter the “Blue Monster Story Starter”.

This story will be available via a collaborative document (and on the JS Library OPAC home page) and via a hard copy.

“Luther and the Cloud Makers”by Kylie Newburn and illustrated by Sarah Nelisiwe Anderson  is a beautifully written and illustrated picture book that is not only a great book to share with younger children but is a perfect example of a resource to support student inquiry into Sharing the Planet.

Read an in-depth review by  the Picture Book Nook.

This book will be one I recommending for the Year 2 Sharing the Planet unit.

Little Mates series

We are collecting the Little Mates books from Scholastic. These cute little books are a lovely way to introduce alliteration or focus on a letter (i.e. A). We are up to the letter C.

Another wonderful thing about these books is they are based around Australian animals and settings. Perfect. Highly recommended for little bodies.
