VR has changed majorly overtime! Here’s a picture of the first Virtual Reality, let’s say “helmet” and a picture of one of the current masks.
First virtual reality…. viewing boxes?
See what I mean? The first virtual reality headset wasn’t even a headset! That’s how much it’s changed!
You can communaicate with VR as well! For example, VR Chat Room.
With VR Chat Room, you can have multiple people in a chat at once, and still play the actual game itself. Most of the time, you’ll meet a lot of funny people!
Advantages of VR
– More social
– Little/no risk
– Safe, controlled area
– Realistic scenarios
– Simplifies complex problems/situations
– Suitable for different learning styles
– Innovative and enjoyable
– Creates interest
– Provides visualisations that aren’t possible in the in real life
– Eliminates the language barrier
– Can use it for learning
– Can use it for designing
Disadvantages of VR
– Deteriorates human connections
– Functionality issues
– Lack of flexibility
– Addiction to the virtual world
– Expensive
– Motion sensors could couple with laboured breathing
As you can see, the advantages take over the disadvantages by A LOT! For people starting with VR, I recommend maybe start with some games. When you get used to it, start using it for things like your work or maybe even your learning! What I think should happen with VR in the future is it should have a FaceTime App. Just a way to communicate with other people privately. VR chat room’s good, but it can get very easily hacked. Things you need to be weary about is that VR can make you motion sick. Some VR headsets like Vive, Rift and PlayStation prevent that from happening by forcing the frame to be at a constant high. Also, VR is radiation which can cause cancer. Don’t worry about that though because that’s really rare!
