Little Mates series

We are collecting the Little Mates books from Scholastic. These cute little books are a lovely way to introduce alliteration or focus on a letter (i.e. A). We are up to the letter C.

Another wonderful thing about these books is they are based around Australian animals and settings. Perfect. Highly recommended for little bodies.

HOOVER your sites

Sitehoover is the top 2010 tool (Web 2.0) from Larry Ferlazzo’s The Best Lists on Technology in 2010.

It is great tool for sharing websites.  A possible use for students would be  compiling their recommended researched sites with annotations highlighting  the reasons for the selection of each specific site (being critical evaluators).

This is a link to my library and ICT resources SITE HOOVER page (blog, wikis, twitter) that I created to evaluate just how simple it is to use.

Easy! Highly recommend it.

JSSALCLibrary wiki

I have been updating the JSSALCLibrary wiki page! It now contains pages for the PYP and the Teacher Librarian, The Learner Profile and Attitudes and Taking Action.

This will be a resource that will hopefully be of value to teachers and will be contantly added to. Please let me know if you have resources that you would like to add.

Over the last few years I have collected many weblinks that relate to the Units of Inquiry, online learning, PYP, languages, ICT and Web2.o just to name a few areas.

Recently I have started to use Diijo. I find that it is wonderful for the community aspect make it a valauable PLN tool. This is my profile of Diijo.

Bubbl.us – great concept mapping tool!

Have you used BUBBL.US?

It is a simple Web 2.0 tool tobrainstorming and mind map.

Year 4 students are using this to gather their thoughts about their current unit of inquiry about water pollution.

These are a few examples that the students have created.

Another great aspect of using bubbl.us is you don’t need to register. This wiki gives you instructions about how-to use bubbl.us.

ICT in the PYP Conference Hong Kong

The PYP ICT in the PYP Conference was held at Renaissance College, in Hong Kong.

It was focused on futher developing an understanding of the place of ICT in PYP.

The inital day was focussed on the purpose and philosophy of ICT in the PYP,  international mindedness and the development of the  essential elements of PYP through the use of ICT.

The subsequent days built on this knowledge and understandings developed allowing for application to specific participants environments.

To see some of the comments via the twitter comments go to ICTinPYP (#ICTinPYP), my book marks (delicious) @JSSALC and my prezi @

And completely off the track – have you tried  vegetable stuffed pig intestines? I  have… at a vegetarian restaurant in Hong Kong.

This is what they looked like!
