Students in Year 5 have been writing their own storybooks. As a part of this process some students were given the opportunity to recreate the story (or part of a story) using modeling clay and animation techniques.
The first version of Milo and Tom is below.
In the next session the students will have a chance to add sound to the animation.

It was lovely to see the students enjoying the simple pleasure of being read to. Thanks to those who participated in the event and we hope to make it an annual event.
Earlier this term, the Year 4 students were learning to write narratives. Some of these stories were selected and have been published and on display in the JS Library.
The QR code is a part of our Featured Writer series. This process allow students to write for a purpose is through the creation of stories and the publishing of these stories.

Can automaticity and achievement in the mental calculation of number facts be improved through the consistent, regular and explicit teaching of cognitive strategies?
Some Year 6 & 7 students (a part of the Readers Cup) were also very fortunate to meet with him at lunchtime and sit in on a writing session.
